Since we started traveling we have built a kind of Swiss army knife spreadsheet (two actually) that keeps track of all data we want to collect. What it does:

• Maintenance checks to keep track of when the next maintenance or check is needed
• Daily distances
• Expenses
• Fuel consumption
• Changing and withdrawals
• Cooking gas consumption and filling to estimate the remaining gas
• Car maintenance
• State, country and continent crossings to calculate km and days spent
• Currency stock

We use two spreadsheets. The data spreadsheet runs on Windows Excel, but also on Android Excel. We use it for daily data updates without needing a computer. The statistics spreadsheet runs on a Windows computer. After the data spreadsheet has been copied to the computer the statistics spreadsheet reads its data. It has a number of pivot tables for the statistics.

You find here the spreadsheets with the structure as we use it and some data as an example. You will need some Excel knowledge to use them. We only used them with Microsoft Excel (2013 version should do). It will not work with LibreOffice.
